I will continue to never buy their games or support them at all ๐Ÿ‘

Nothing worth buying anyways

:)

Just so I'm clear, this move entails:

Get a massive loan, use it to buy a company, take the money back from the company, saddle the company with the debt for it's own purchase, scrap it for parts and let it go bankrupt?

Considering it's EA, this might actually be a good thing for the world.

i just uninstalled all EA games and the app. its not a safe product to use under the control of the new owners it seems.

hear me out.

EA has a huge distribution network that requires clients to be installed on the users system along with login IDs.

considering Kushner is involved he likely has the connections to gain access to the American data mined by DOGE and can orchestrate identifying Americans off of the subset of data from EA and DOGE.

EA has loose morals enough to participate with a fascist government but never had the opportunity until this happened.

considering 17% of all gamers are LGBTQ and many others are ASD, I'm concerned EA is going to surveil and notify based on users habits and online interactions.

I suppose only time will tell, but something feels very weird about this whole thing.

Wait, people use an EA program/launcher still? I thought that was discontinued years ago, shows how many EA games I play lol. Seriously though, if they took out a $22b loan and are planning to use AI generated material, they're going to be hemorrhaging money.

If the recent examples of Google and Microsoft are any indication, they're going to lay people off and just stop doing QA. Everything I use from Google and Microsoft has been buggy as hell of late.

It's like all these "smart" businesspeople can't read simple opinion polls.

Most people hate degenerative AI.

Most people avoid products that have it.

Adding degenerative AI to EA's games will worsen their condition, not improve it.

I suspect half of the bet is in firing programmers and vibe coding away, which is already working out super well - for "AI code cleanup" professionals

Most people hate degenerative AI.

Do you have any data supporting this claim?

[โ€“] OneClappedCheek@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Just google it? Tons of surveys backing this claim.

Read the group. There was a post about it.

My last remaining spark of hope for a Mass Effect game that isn't completely fucked just died. Let's hope that Exodus will scratch that itch for me...

Not only hope for future games. We might very well lose the old games, when they inevitably go bankrupt and close the EA Launcher along with our libraries there.

Good luck with that

"Teehee, I'm in danger"

I am pleasantly surprised by how little this affects me.
