If they're out of bread, why don't they just eat cake?

There are more important things to spend money on, like a new ugly ballroom, or giving $40 billion to bail out Argentina -again, a fat settlement over the FBI investigating his criminal activities, bombs to blow up Venezuelan fishermen, renovations to his Qatari airplane bribe, the 30,000 inmate concentration camp being built in Guantanamo Bay (oh yeah, Google it), etc.

All this stuff costs massive amounts of money, and you'd rather spend it to feed poor kids? It's not like they are going to grow up to be rich and important, so who cares?

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

I’m starting to think the guardians of pedophiles (gop) doesn’t care about the people within the borders of the US.

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But we are getting a yuge new golden ballroom at the white house that not a single one of us will ever set foot in.

So like? Fuck them kids

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

The pedo-in-chief and his pedo pals will likely take that last part literally...

"America First" seems to really want to kill a lot of americans

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

djt keeps confusing "America" with himself.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

Let them eat cake

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why not? They're apparently fine with kids getting shot.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

America has been fine with kids being shot for decades.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They LOWERED the age of gun ownership in Florida to 18, and they're shooting each other all over the place. Their aim isn't too good, either. They keep hitting innocent bystanders, but hey, that's the price you pay for the second amendment, right? Getting accidentally shot by some hood rat with a legal gun because DeSatan wants everyone to believe he's packing more than 3 inches in his pants.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Gun ownership age has been 18 since there was a gun ownership age.

21 only applies to handguns and certain specific other weapons like NFA items and unlassified "firearms" (guns that aren't classified as pistols, rifles or shotguns - mostly firearm receivers or a few weird stockless "shotguns" that don't actually fit the shotgun definition).

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

He lowered the age for handguns to 18, after convicted criminal Rick Scott and the Florida Republican Legislature raised it to 21 after the Parkland Massacre (something Scott doesn't like to talk about).

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It's been illegal to sell a handgun to anyone under 21 everywhere in the US for decades. The Governor of Florida can't change that.

Yeah, they can say it isn't against Florida law, but the ATF super duper doesn't care about Florida's little make-believe firearm deregulation.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Okay, except 18 year olds CAN buy guns in Florida.

Weed is also Federally outlawed, and you can buy that all over Florida, too, despite it being technically illegal even according to FLORIDA law.

What does the law have to with anything anymore? The simple fact is that if MAGAs want something, they'll do it, no matter what the law says.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Thet can buy non-NFA rifles or shotguns. They cannot buy handguns.

You really, super-duper don't know what you're talking about if you think an 18yo can walk into a gun store and buy a handgun.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

actually, sadly here in toronto, youth gun crimes have been rising due to the flow of guns coming from the USA.

[–] brunchyvirus@fedia.io 97 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Trump planning to fuck kids?

Sorry typo *fuck over kids

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago

Both are true statements.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Kids are easier to fuck when they’re starving

How else do you get parents to send their 14 year olds to the farms?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Just being realistic. Sugar coating this shit has gotten us where we currently are

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago (4 children)

1600 rent. 1000 day care. 1500 car payments. 800 grocery. 200 gas (for cars). Bills 300.

My fiance and I make around 6k a month and it's not enough.

This is insanity even with snap.

[–] balance8873@lemmy.myserv.one 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

What is up with your car expenses. I literally don't know of anywhere a family of three could get a 1600 apt (I can't think of anywhere that gets you a 1bd), let alone anywhere day care is only 1k/mo, but you're spending 1500 on car payments?

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

My car is 836 + ins. Fiance's car 500 + ins = about 1500 a month.

My car was about 40k full electric so I don't have to buy gas. Other car was 25k and a hybrid so we don't have to buy too much gas.

I drive a butt load 35k a year sometimes 40k. I'm more interested in reliability than savings as reliability to me is savings.

It's a constant balancing act. Cheap car pay for gas and repairs expensive car pay electricity and the bank.

If it wasn't for my job I'd get me a 2010 Nissan versa.

The apartment is cheap for the marker but still ostentatiously expensive.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They bought each other twin SUVs with bows on them for Christmas like in those commercials.

[–] balance8873@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 1 day ago

Aww well that's worth it then

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How on earth is your car payment 1500??

[–] OptimusPrimeDownfall@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm betting it's two car payments because two busy people can't survive without their own car in the US.

[–] TriplePlaid@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Even with a car payment being $750/month, that's a pretty fancy car from my perspective - and represents the average car payment for a new car.

I think that these folks could keep up with expenses much more easily if a few minor compromises were made (namely, a cheaper car).

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (6 children)

I drive 35 to 40k miles a year for my job. I only get new because I'd rather pay and have a driving car than pay and have one in the shop for the same price.

My car was 40 and full electric so I don't have to buy gas and my fiance's car was 25k. Those two car payments and and insurance we pay around 1500 a month.

But it's not the cars that's a problem. I choose that luxury. Be it for practicality or showing off. What I don't choose is to live ina 600 squarefoot Apartment for a thousand dollars more than it should be. Or daycare for 250 a WEEK!

Even if I lowered the price of the card for 500 a month, 800 a months it wouldn't help.

This is the kind of thing that gets a whole lot of Confederates very hard. I mean they think empathy is something to be mocked. Their glorious demigod Charlie Kirk thought empathy was a made up, new age term.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 60 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh no, panned. Like he gives a shit.

[–] SpacetimeMachine@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Well don't worry, tomorrow they are going to SLAM him for letting kids go hungry!
